    What a load of baloney. No thought of land subsidence as a cause, right? No thought of the sun’s influence, right? Get a clue. Not man’s fault. Build a higher sea wall or move inland.

      Hey Agent, how are your Texas gulf claims looking today?

      Honestly it’s difficult to respond in a civil manner to such ignorance. It seems only in America is there such a willful embrace of climate change denial. I’ll cast my lot with enlightenment and hope like hell that science is wrong about how difficult a future we are setting our children and grandkids up to face.

      Oh, that’s right. Why didn’t those scientists and climatologists think of this? The way you lay it out is all so simple, none of the complicated interactions of greenhouse gasses to worry about, none at all. Yes sir, you have really got a handle on this. Why use science when ignorance will do?

    Agent is soooo right on. And besides, with the earth being flat and all, any excess water will just roll off.

    Climate change is definitely a frightening reality and it is happening quickly but is it all man made or is some of it normal cyclic change which has happened at times over the history of man ie: the ice ages? It really doesn’t matter why it is happening. Governments had better get on board to prepare for the inevitable as best as they can.

      Sharon, It DOES matter because the major cause of climate change is human activities, esp.
      • Greenhouse gases from burning fossil fuels;
      • Agriculture, exp. confined animal feeding operations;
      • Deforestation.

      If it were normal, we’d just adapt. But because it’s us, we can reduce the amount of change — if WE get off our butts & put pressure on our gov’t.

      You write of gov’t as “they”. Gov’t isn’t “they”, it’s US. TX has done a good job of getting gov’t off the backs of citizens — no/few building codes & zoning, plus weak supervision, all of which exacerbate storm impacts.

    if government getting on board means my using federal tax dollars for sea walls & other climate change mitigation around all the irresponsible seaside homeowners, businesses, and local/state governments that enabled this debacle, no thanks. Texans, get ready for a state income tax to pay for all of this remediation work that you’ve ignored…
