Most of the studies and articles that I've read on the net about roundabouts claim that they are relatively new to the U.S. This simply isn't true. While they may be uncommon, theres at least one roundabout in Des Plaines, IL, that has been there for many years.

Most of the studies I've read about roundabouts also claim they're safe. This isn't true either, as the roundabout in IL is one of the deadliest/most accident prone areas in the country.

Roundabouts are not safe for pedestrians or cyclists, and most are not built to accomodate tractor/trailers. There's a roundabout in Kansas, I believe, where trucks are always causing jams, because the trucks simply dont fit in the roundabout.

I sure wish that people who do these "studies" and articles would research more thorougly, and provide ALL sides to the story. To write otherwise is simply irresponsible.
