I think it is a terrible tragedy, a shame to say the least. I am very sorry for you and your children, being a responsible bartender and a mother, I can relate, and agree yes, I would have shut him off, taking his keys or called a cab because that is my job, but I do have to question why do we have a drinking age: supposedly it is because we are supposed to be responsible adults at 21 or whatever the age limit is, If you are an adult then you should be responsible for your own actions. I know this is not true with all people, and maybe not what you want to hear, but the irresponsible adult that goes out to drink, should pay the price. I am not sure if it should be the bar's responsibilty or the bartender's for that matter, I think it should be of the so-called "adult's" responsibility to be able to stop drinking when they feel as though they have had enough or stay home. If they are old enough to drink then they should be fully responsible for their own actions. It is almost saying that every bar or bartender needs to be a babysitter for every patron that walks in, I don't feel it should be that way.
