The clams made in these article are completely without basis. Firstly the statement that the accidents caused by uninsured drivers have to be recouped by insured drivers is just dumb and not how the system works. In this country you are responsible for your own actions and if you cause and accident you are expected to pay for the damages that you are responsible for. Insurance is only a system that we use to pre pay for the possibility of these incidences. In fact statistically drivers are involved in one auto incidence every thirty years and the majority of those incidences are minor. So if all insured drives stopped paying there insurance today and started paying towered an interest baring account they could statistically more than pay for any accidents and in the end many drivers (particularly those with good driving skills and records) would have much more money to cash out of the system. Witch brings me to my final point, if you pay for auto insurance for the entire span of you driving life and are involve in only a very few minor accidents totaling less the several thousand dollars than you have paid hundreds of times more than the cost of the damages. In fact the high cost of insurance is not to pay for uninsured drivers but to pay for the many high paid CEO’s and executives and as well as the price paid to many politicians to instate and verify mandatory insurance systems.
