Do you realize that the average jury award for bodily injury claims is over $320,000? (taken from the I.I.I website) Insurance is designed to pay for the unknown. As many times that people pay premiums and never have claims that amount to more than they paid in, there are those that do have claims that will exceed more than they will ever make 10X over. It is a double edged sword!!
Insurance companies take on risks that have only paid 2 months premium and have claims that exceed the $320K mark I mentioned earlier. It is great that most people do not have the same mental attitude as you or bodily injury claims would go unpaid or well underpaid by your interest bearing account.
