I'd rather they take reduction in increments rather than one huge drop and then back up again - because they gave back too much at first. I'll take it. I'm with Travelers in Western NY. $3,200/yr for 3 vehicles w/ full coverage, including a youthful, inexperienced principal operator (decent limits, too). Averages out to $1066 per vehicle - I really don't think that's all that bad! I'll take 5% now and throw me 5% next year. Re: Homeowners - people aughta get smart and carry large deductibles because they should make claim only for those financial losses that would really hurt. I have a $1,000 ded and am contemplating $2,500. We're not rich, but it only makes sense - it's not a maintenance policy - it's meant for those losses that are just too hefty handle on your own. Leaky roof -we fixed ourselves. overflow of water - we handled ourselves. water in basement - thankfully that one was contained and we handled ourselves. no claims ever! and I hope never!
