I have been working in the Personal Lines industry for the last 30 years predominantly in MidWest and Rocky Mountain States. Prior to Nationwide's purchase, Allied was in many respects similar to Safeco in underwriting and pricing philosophy. Since then, Nationwide has beefed up Allied's product management staff to add pricing sophisication to what Allied did. Some of the old time Allied staff think Nationwide wants to become a clone of Progressive. In short, Allied is a financially solid company who believes that there are "no bad risks only bad prices." The Des Moines area views Allied as active supportor of their local community events. If I were an agent in California or another new state, I would definitely contact them for an appointment.
