From a patient's perspective: Horizon HMO is probably the worst plan on the planet. The places on their provider lists (e.g. labs) are filthy rat holes. When you explain there is no specialist in your county that serves your need they say it is your problem and if you have to drive from one end of the state, even if it is an orthopedic ankle problem, then they feel that they cover you. I am calling my political representatives and would like to call the Health Department when I have time. I work in health care, and was forced into this HMO because they don't make PPOs or POS plans available to individuals in NJ. They wanted $1100. a month with a $3000. deductible/per month to stay in the only other option. This gift I have of paying $500. and getting disgusting care is questionable.
