Subject: RE: RE: MRSA
Poor hygiene, overwhelmed workers contribute to thousands of deaths Series: TRIBUNE INVESTIGATION: UNHEALTHY HOSPITALS. First of three parts.
Date: Jul 21, 2002
It is one of the best treatments of the infection problem I have seen but very little impacts the huge hospital/healthcare lobby that continues to withhold facts of the epidemic of MRSA from an unsuspecting public. A lady in the Tribune story had a recurring and permanent disability from the infection contracted in surgery. Everything that can be done to suppress the truth and conceal the extent of the infection problem is being done right up to lobbying legislatures in most states to actually aid concealment and prevent accountability. What you do hear about is tort reform to prevent physicians and hospitals from being held liable negligence. I can't imagine how they have continued to hide the truth but think about this: You enter any and every hospital without knowing whether they are in the midst of an epidemic or if they are adequately staff. Their mortality rate is unknown and you cannot find the information even if you try. You know more about the McDonalds you eat lunch in than you do the hospital that is responsible for your care.
How long will it be before the public DEMANDS change, accountability, knowledge and major prevention methods.
