Jeanette, confiscating insurance company profits is going to solve a lot of problems. The industry has gone through a long dry spell, so they now get a year where investors are compensated for taking the risk of a 2006 hurricane, and you think taking that away will help?
If you think insurance companies are making so much money, buy their stock. Or don't buy their product, retain the risk. At the end of the day, someone has to put up the money. If investors can't make money by accepting your risk, they'll go elsewhere, and the situation worsens. The Fair Plan is still deeply subsidized below market which is why it's the number one homeonwers carrier in the state. If you want a real problem to address, this is it.
