Just having them pass you can be scary — groups of high-speed motorcyclists darting through traffic at speeds that make even lead-foot drivers wince. Called "bullet bikes'' and "crotch rockets,'' ...

Speed Kills. Stupidity Kills. Put the two together on a two-wheeled racing cycle and the only question is "who" will be killed?

The "speed bikes" like the ones being discussed aren't driven by safe or sane individuals. Otherwise, they'd buy a larger, cruising bike. They want "speed". Doesn't matter they don't have the brains to realize that controlling a bike at high speeds requires excellent judgement and reaction time.

I agree with the natural selection comments. I don't support helmet laws. (or seat belt laws). Anyone who hasn't progressed far enough up the food chain to realize the danger deserves what they get. Laws won't help either. "some seed fell on rock". They'll never get it.

As for the cop who was chasing a speed bike. He should be arrested and charged for the carnage he caused. In a race between a cycle and a squad car......bet on the cycle. This cop used poor judgement and should never have pursued in a congested area.
