Chief.....very noble and appreciated. On the other hand, those of us who are personally responsible and have some modicum of common sense do not wish to have to pay for the 1% who are not. I'm sure the photocell detectors are great, but the incidence of problems like the one described is too low to require everyone to comply. Those of us in insurance have to balance cost with risk. I've seen many cases where a conventional detector would have save lives, but the ignorant and irresponsible tenants either disconneted the battery because they didn't like to hear it go off when they were cooking, or were too lazy to replace the battery. Great idea, but nothing will alter the course of human frailties.
