The one part of your argument I don't agree with is the assumption that those who don't have AIDS have no health coverage, then when they are infected they look for a way to be covered. I don't buy that part, and I think that part is pivotal to your argument. If they already have coverage before infected, it is a moot point how they are covered or if they are added to the spouses policy.
I also don't agree with the line that this is how they are trying to get those already infected, covered. It is certainly a possible by product of adding them for coverage that should be addressed.
If they have health coverage before they contract the virus, they are covered. Doesn't matter.
Perhaps the solution here is not to avoid adding same sex spouses, but perhaps to add pre-existing condition exclusions on a group policy for any disease when adding a spouse. This way, we can help keep the cost of insurance down across the board for all diseases.
