Did these goofballs think that the rock on the gas pedal would keep the truck from floating away, sort of like the Sopranos would do with Gobba da Ghoul?
One thing the article forgot to mention was that the vehicle was found submerged - up to its windshield. Apparently The Two Smietanas didn't realize that the lakefront was a gradual decline.
Once water hit the ignition wires, the truck stalled in three feet of water, so Darryl and his Other Brother Darryl painted the top half of the truck grey and black, and stuck some duck decoys on the roof to "hide" it. Of course they used latex paint, which washed away after the first good rainstorm one month later.
Why oh why didn't Paula just say she was trying to see what Chevy meant by "off road driveability"? Of course, had she been driving a Jeep - known for its "Off Road Certified" marketing campaigns - she would simply have arrived in Toronto six hours later. And with a load of Lake Trout in the trunk.
One wonders if the EPA can file federal charges against the four for dumping 5 quarts of oil in an unsealed container into the lake. I don't think they could get her for any gasoline dumping - if she was so cheap, she probably siphoned the tank before The Big Push. Maybe all the extra air in the tank impeded the car's sinking, too. I bet these idiots even deflated the tires, thinking the Chevy would roll over on its back and float like an otter.
