As far as rising ocean levels, it's not icebergs melting that would cause it, it's ice shelves. The melting of ice floating in water shows the same effect as your cup of tea. The effect of an ice shelf collapsing would be more like filling a Bundt cake pan with water, then sticking a snowball on the spire in the middle and watching the water level as it melts.
