Let me preface this by stating that I'm not a subscriber to the theory of man-made global warming. I don't think that human activity is the MAIN cause of climate change, but it can certainly contribute. There are plenty of reasons to reduce carbon emissions and energy consumption if possible. Reducing any impact humans may have on climate change is just one of them.

As far as rising ocean levels, it's not icebergs melting that would cause it, it's ice shelves. The melting of ice floating in water shows the same effect as your cup of tea. The effect of an ice shelf collapsing would be more like filling a Bundt cake pan with water, then sticking a snowball on the spire in the middle and watching the water level as it melts.
