While the US Agriculture department spends thousands on the CRP programs(as political currency for encumbunts), they should seriously consider the future economic value in enhancing current and future sustainable agriculture practices. With our abilities to manufacture and enhance the natural production health of soils using recycled materials and a good Tub grinder, cropland could be reclaimed into a better producing resource without significant hard and hot chemical application. That approach would also slow the talent drain from rural areas, prepare for future production demands to feed the world. As a nation, we have the lands available to produce the foods but have politically tied agriculture's hands by making it too cheap, and not paying our farmers to farm.
