I find it incredulous that so many people consider this a "complicated problem" and that so many shipowners are willing to pay ransoms for return of their property. It's not a complicated problem. You have a bunch of un-sophisticated punks from a 3rd world garbage country to manage to board vessels without being challenged. A handful of trained and armed guards onboard every vessel would be a good investment. How will these thugs climb up the side of a ship while someone with an automatic weapon is firing down on them? The shipowners can travel in convoys with armed mercenaries escorting them. The reason the problem is escalating is that there continues to be profit in it. Killing the pirates is a good start. As for the ships that are being detained, the pirates location should be attacked and the property removeed by force. It's time civilized people started playing hardball will human garbage.
