It's absolutely ridiculous that legislators would consider repealing the 36-year-old mandatory motorcycle helmet law. Anyone that claims that this battle is over the constitutionality of the law or personal freedoms probably can't tell if it's day or night, due to the fact that their helmet-less skull is inserted into a region that the sun never shines upon.
In a time that more and more safety features are being incorporated into automobiles, and a mandatory statewide seat belt law was just recently enacted, why would legislators consider repealing the law that requires wearing the single most important piece of motorcycle safety gear?
The answer is very simple. My father always says, all you have to do is follow the money! In this case it's the much sought after tourism dollars that are being spent in other states by non-helmet wearing motorcyclists.
I myself am an avid motorcyclist (>7,000 miles a year) and would never consider riding without a helmet, EVEN if I did venture into a state that allowed me to put my grey matter at risk...
