Ms. Heather,

You are now at a major crossroads in your career. A choice between being an "order taker" or becoming an (independent) insurance agent.

I know very few captive agents who are happy about their decision. The question is: Do you want to be driving the bus, or just another passenger with no input as to the direction or where you will be going?

Contact your state and local independent agent's associations: PIA - IIABA, nearly all have a Young Agents organization. You should also look into the National Association of Insurance Women. NAIW.org An excellent networking and educational organization by and for women in the insurance industry.

Good luck & Congratulations
