I honestly look at mandatory helmet laws the same as mandatory seatbelt laws. People griped and moaned for years after seatbelts were made mandatory but eventually shut up about it. Helmets save lives just like seatbelts save lives.

On the other hand I'm really tired of hearing the bikers gripe. And I find it a little hypocritical that for all the times helmets have been likened to seatbelts I have yet to hear a biker that's against mandatory helmet laws express the same feeling for mandatory seatbelt laws.

I'm sure there is a fair way of dealing with the financial fallout, but I'll be danged if I can figure it out.
