What I'm really curious about is; if the parent AIG were to fail, would that trigger regulatory required receiverships of the AIG insurers? I admit I do not understand the intracies of a company like AIG but are the insurers really able to continue paying claims etc. if the parent company becomes insolvent? Wouldn't the receivership of the AIG parent require all assests to become part of the estate for liquidation?
