The constitution gives us the freedom to enjoy the life we have been given. However, there's responsibility that comes with personal freedom. Driving - and having adequate protection - is a responsibility that can be revoked by any state when the person's behavior warrants it. The next question is what is adequate coverage? Its true attorneys are part of the problem, but far too many people are trying to save a buck (or ten) and some producers/agents in their eagerness to get business are stripping coverages to allow the insured to do so. I think we producers/agents need to do more time teaching and less looking to a make a quick sale. I'v had some changed their minds when the explanation was given. It's up to us decent producers to give them that option. As a producer friend of mine said "how much insurance would you want the driver to have if your child was injured?" Property damage here is 10k and when I tell people that they can be sued for the difference, some say go ahead I'll declare bankruptcy or I'm on disability. Once again - want the freedom but don't want the responsibility.
