Some of us people who live in rural areas don't have access to public transportation. Driving is the only way most folks can get to their jobs out here. I don't have a choice between taking the bus or the car. I have to drive 40 miles to work one way and it is the closest job I can find. I have insurance but I am holding on by the skin of my teeth since I only make 250 bucks a week. If my car insurance goes up it'll have to be dropped or I'll have to give up that nasty habit of eating. There are plenty of other people in the same boat and with this deepening recession we'll see even more.
