In "the good ole days" when my husband was working for Brown & Root, he was around asbestos all the time. What was his reward for working and taking care of his family? It was death! Where were the warnings back in the 50s and 60s about asbestos? Why weren't safety issues made public? When a company knows of the danger of a product, it is their responsibility to take care of their employees. Well, I was taken care of by Halliburton - after they returned from their run to bankruptcy court - I got a settlement in the amount of $100,000. A lot of money for a life, you think. The attorneys took 40% and my two sons got one third each of the $60,000. Well, almost. Seems Halliburton can only pay 94.28% of this money now and, maybe, the rest will come around 2006. I would give up any money in a heart beat if I could have my husband back again. I just wish someone would finally admit that they screwed up! Asbestos kills people and Brown & Root used to let people work with it every day. Dying from mesothelioma (caused by asbestos) is a horrible death. Watching it is horrible. Why is my husband gone and Halliburton existing in bliss?
