Perhaps this is why the "story" is unclear; there is no news here. Response's claims may be valid, and one of the legitimate stories here is why Google would agree to police another company's intellectual property. I am aware that copyright law allows a "safe harbor" from infringement for search engines and internet service providers if they immediately take down copyrighted material that is alleged to infringe copyright law. I do not know, however, if trademark law has an analogous law.
But no one will ever know from this post because it is a press release, not reported, investigated news. What would have been better is if Insurance Journal actually did some reporting on this issue instead of replicating a one-sided press release and presenting it to its readers as "news."
