sliding, steering, providing false and outdated policies, refusal to provide policies. ordering contractors to throw out insured's personal property to prevent them from making claim for them. sending in contractors that leave the home with so many chemicals that the homeowner cannot live in the home. sending checks directly to a lienholder without the insured's name on it, stopping ALE before a settlement is made. Telling insured's to go live with their family and then refusing to reimburse family for the added expenses. I have hundreds of these... depreciating market value, using one portion of the policy to influence another portion of the policy. refusal to deal with the insured in good faith. thinking that the appraisal process means go get a realestate appraisal. making false statements to the insured that the loss is being investigated for arson when the adjuster knew it was an accidental fire. claiming the insurer doesn't owe for a chimney fire and smoke due to an alleged defect that cannot be proven.
refusing to return correspondence.
I've seen so much just in the last year that it has become outrageous.
Why else would Missouri take the drastic step after tort reform to install a new law that if the insurer is found guilty of fraud that it is an automatic $100,000 fine and/or loss of license of the insurer.

the fraud goes both ways but lately I've seen more insurers guilty that insureds.
