where is the rest of the information. It stated that both sexes agree on weather related accidents. Then it stated how many accidents were related to weather. However it doesnt go on to explain the percentage of how many of those accidents were caused by women, and how many by men. That would pretty much sum up who is a better driver wouldnt it. I dont know if it would be men or women. I know plent y of both, but if you are going to do a pole and gather info. Gather all the info. Whats the point in asking peoples opinions on a pole if you are not going further expain the statistical information behind it. Oh well just my thoughts. We are all bad drivers in the eyes of someone right?
I may be putting a date on my age but I believe Marsha Brady proved the correct answer to \”Good Driver\’s\” response!!!!!! I agree w/\”Little\”, we are ALL bad drivers in someone else\’s eyes.
I hope your driving is better than your grammar … Studies have shown that males have a much higher crash record — starting out with more crashes on Big Wheels.
It is ALL too frightening when ANY person is talking on their cell phone while driving!!!
The most frightening is a soccer mom with her \”razr\” phone wedged up against her shoulder, while weaving in and out of traffic, in her Chevy Suburban, on her way to droppping the girls off to cheerleading practice.
All I can say is that I know of only one person who could hit both sides of a two car garage with only one car being parked in the garage and that was my mother!
I guess if only 26% of women think they\’re better drivers, they must be married to the 32% of men who don\’t claim to be better drivers…so I guess they\’re both right. Of course an opinion poll is good for a laugh and nothing more…
Men do have more accidents than women do, but it\’s probably because men log more hours behind the wheel than women do. This was, years ago, a fact. I think women are catching up. I haven\’t seen the latest statistics but would guess that men are still logging more hours behind the wheel. I agree that we are all bad drivers in someone else\’s eyes. I\’ve seen, both men and women, driving mini vans or SUV\’s on the interstate go whizzing past me, driving over the speed limit, with children in the vehicle! We all should think about what we\’re doing at all times when we\’re behind the wheel. There would be fewer accidents and deaths.
Women are nest builders resulting in more cautious behaviors and longer life expectancy. But that cautiousness in driving becomes indecisiveness causing accidents when starting and stopping or driving beneath a speed limit whether good or bad weather. That\’s the truth…BABY!
I know women whose driving is excellent and I know men who drive beautifully. As in all other human issues, gender is NOT a classifier per se.
What happens is that men have been driving since the first motocars were on the roads, when women were supposed to stay at home knitting, playing piano, singing and reading the Bible aloud for the kids. It took the best part of a century to see women behind the wheel. And perhaps in those times they had not the necessary muscle power to keep it steady or turn at bends and would end up against a wall, a tree or another vehicle, breeding a fame that have accompanied them ever since :-)
I agree with the last comment posted. I was looking for some fact which would show just how many men vs. women were the drivers in the number of accidents posted. Show me some statistics that solve the mystery, or, we could choose to battle it out along with the chicken vs. the egg theory.
I am a bad driver. I have totalled six cars and had six fender benders on top of that in my 26 years of driving. My wife is a great driver and has never had an accident. She drives 85% of the time when we are together. However when the weather gets bad (in the northern plains, it can get nasty), she always asks me to drive. I don\’t freak out like she does when the roads get icy.
My theory has always been that (generally speaking) when men cause accidents, it\’s because they overestimate their abilities or underestimate their vehicle\’s abilities, whereas when women cause accidents it\’s because they aren\’t paying attention. I\’d also like to see some statistics about the proportion of single vehicle accidents among men/women.
I\’d rather think that (generally speaking) overestimating the capacity of one\’s vehicle would be more dangerous than the opposite. Anyway, I\’ve said I\’m lazy to look for statistics but if one of you would then try here:

IIHS Fatality Facts 2004: Gender
FATALITY FACTS 2004: GENDER Sections: OVERVIEW AGE DIFFERENCES ALCOHOL INVOLVEMENT More men than women die each year in motor vehicle crashes. Men typically drive more miles than women and more often engage in risky driving practices including not using seat belts, driving while impaired by alcohol, and speeding. Crashes involving male drivers often are more severe than those involving women. However, when crashes of equal severity are examined by gender, females are more likely than males to be killed or injured.
men may survive crashes better than woman but its the women who cause the accident in the first place, so they shouldnt survive.
Statistics show men are better drivers, they also show that women causes 67% of all fatal yes (FATAL) accidents, they should stay in the kitchen where they belong and out of mans world in the car, You wanted equal rights so take the equal critisism and join the BAN WOMEN DRIVERS crusade, Suffer bitches.

Everyone knows, but don\’t want to admit, that men are just better drivers, no matter what the weather conditions.
I may be putting a date on my age but I believe Marsha Brady proved the correct answer to \”Good Driver\’s\” response!!!!!! I agree w/\”Little\”, we are ALL bad drivers in someone else\’s eyes.

Perhaps someone should drop a line to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (Arlington, VA) at http://www.iihs.org
They surely have something.

Your opinion went right out the window once I noticed your lack of punctuation, horrific spelling and sentence structure. BTW, it is spelled \”POLL\”.

Maybe she \”freaks out\” because she doesn\’t want to lose control… whereas you are probably used to not having control of your vehicle very often.
\”just roll it back over honey and we can keep driving….\”

men are better then women drivers, period!
Men are supposed to be better drivers insofar they survive their crashes (names withheld to protect the culprits)…
get over it.
