If I had to work on the road, I would prefer to stop and stretch my legs and then get caught up with phone messages. When at my desk, I find that"multi-tasking" is not productive: I stop what I'm going, answer the phone and then hang up and get back to work. Driving at 75 MPH while blabbing seems hazardous not because I'm a bad driver but because I need to watch out for the other guy. Judging from those comments, how did traveling salespeople ever make any money before cellphones? But more to the point, I find it hard to believe that all these conversations while driving would take place if the person was sitting at home. I don't recall people blabbing on the phone all day at home without someone saying "hang up and get a life"; we used to have lives before cellphones. The only reason people are on the phone while driving is because they can, not because they need to. Most of the conversations I overhear are just BS, not someone taking care of some really important business that just cannot wait.
