Oh,just in case anyone forgot, the actual legal drinking age is 21, not 18. I agree that kids 18 to 21 shouldn't have to serve in the military, however, you forget one thing, many enlist in pursuit of an education. It's their choice to serve. It is however, not their right to drink. On the issue of drinking, parents need to be more proactive when it comes to the actions of their kids. No one can completely control what their kids do so I don't believe punishing the parents for the kids actions is actually accomplishing anything,but,parents need to stop trying not to offend their children by checking up on them and what they are doing and making sure it's what they say they are doing. Trust But Verify!!! If the kids are not doing anything wrong, they have no reason to be offended. I trust my child but, I don't necessarily trust all of her friends. It's my duty to keep her safe and when it comes to matters of safety, it's non-negotiable and she knows that.
