Most importantly, SSTs (surface sea temperatures) have risen only a small amount, but hurrican strength has doubled. Imagine what will happen when SSTs really rise in the near future!

Furthermore, methane hydrate (10,000 billion tons) under the ocean is starting to melt. This is an immense hazard to shipping, airlines, and cities, plus it will dramatically speed up global warming. This is what caused the smell in Manhatten a few weeks ago, and has affected other ocean communities too, with residents flooding hospitals because of respiratory problems.

On the other hand, we see Legislators like Florida willfully ignorant of the increased risk, trying to legislate lower insurance rates. Heck, maybe they can just make hurricanes illegal!
