This is as good a discussion as we get on IJ. But I think you all are preaching to the choir: we know better, that is, insurance professionals who are reading this. Most insureds do not read IJ much less their policy declarations and their laziness to read the documents which creates the ignorance which causes all the complaints later when a claim is denied. I used to train some new staff memebers and was surprised that everyone thought the agent was responsible for getting the insured the coverage they would need. And I was also surprised at how much commission everyone thinks agents make. If it weren't for agents making sure that high enough limits were purchased, most consumers would rather purchase the mandated minimum. If I know one thing, insurance consumers are pennywise but pound foolish....
