Subject: Uninformed Clients
It absolutely is our responsibility to do so, and is in fact why we are paid as independent agents rather than "service personnel" at some direct writer.
So in your haste to defend your honor, please remember that unless you fall into the catagory of "nit-wit agent who cannot comprehend the policy enough to explain it to his/her customer" the comments of "its the agent's responsibility" are not directed to you personally.
It is our responsibility. We know this. I certainly hope my mechanic doesn't expect me to know a thing about how my car works, I don't expect my customer to understand how insurance works either. The difference is, I have a duty to explain the basics. But at least my mechanic is a nice guy and I always leave the garage knowing a little more than I did going in.
