I too believe that RIMS is out of line here. I have been on both sides of the fence. As an agent I was compensated through various methods including a percentage of any contingencies awarded as a result of our collective efforts. Most fail to acknowledge that placement with a given carrier does not ensure any additional benefit to the agent. In my experience these can be complicated structures that requires the placement of quality risks so that all benefit, the insured, the carrier and the broker.

Are there agents out there that will place business to get a fat bonus, sure, but in my experience in due time they will get their just reward.

Now I am on the risk management side and if my broker meets the requirements of my risk program at a reasonable premium with quality carriers, and they make a bonus...
