The real issue for me is not the fact that agents are being paid these comissions, especially since a reaonable alternative for compensating agents is being put forth by anyone criticizing the existing structure(other than having the insurer bear the brunt, which is not a solution), but rather that as a client I believe we have the right to know what the compensation structure is on our account and all comissions paid or proposed should be disclosed to us with our renewal proposals. This is particularly key when we have our agents coming to us requesting higher fees because the market is soft and they are not making the money they think they should be...who is paying what to whom? that is all I am interested in to enable me to make well informed buying decisions on our organization's behalf.
