I think it is interesting that some companies were acused and gave in by paying large fines while hundreds of others weren't even named. Were those who paid guilty or more guilty than others? I think of all the profit sharing checks that could hane been written or the reduced rates insureds could have paid out of the monies paid in settlement. Will we ever see a full accounting of where the fines and or settlements wound up. Are any governmental bodies now in the black as a resultof the settlements until the next one comes along? I will always pick the companies I may choose to represent by how they became involved and how they responded to things such as the topic of this article.
