Subject: Obvious solution
It may seem obvious but I'll suggest it anyway. Please move if you cannot afford or don't understand the concept that you will pay much more for your HO insurance than you did when you lived in NY, Chicago, Atlanta or St Louis.
It also may seem obvious to state but if you pay less than an actuary deems is needed to break even or make a profit then someone else will have to pay more than they should for insurance. Otherwise the insurance company will lose money and won't have any to pay claims.
If you look for government bailouts all that means is that everyone else in the US pays more taxes so that you don't have to pay the going rate for your HO coverage.
I know it may surprise you but not everyone feels Florida if vital enough to the ongoing success of the USA that we all need to pitch in and subsidize you. In fact, quite a few people struggle with what level of importance it is to the USA. There's no manufacturing, no natural resource extraction and it's pretty much just a haven for bankruptcy and income tax evasion. I'm sure it takes out a lot more in federal dollars than it pays in.
It's kind of like my Uncle Ned. Just a giant money hole that contributes nothing to the economy.
