In that same article did you see this statement? "Allstate, which reports third-quarter earnings this week, is on a pace to exceed last year's record annual profit of $5 billion."
Pat:
No I am not talking about cost shifting to others.
Of Course I did, and you most certainly ARE talking about cost shifting to others by the simple mention of draggin in profits from the corporation as a whole. Those profits include lines of business and investments that have never seen a Florida sunset, EVER!
You are still employing the willing suspension of logic by ignoring the fact that rates have been artificially supressed for too long and 4 storms in 6 weeks wrecked the party. Party's over folks.
Carriers cannot subsidize premiums from other lines to pay for actuarily unsound rates because the people that don't own homes would have a field day about the discrmination they are dealt with. It's not THEIR fault you decide to own a home in Hurricane Heaven. Why should they have to pay for it? The STATE can get away with that, for now. But people are quickly figuring out that the assessments on their auto policies are to bail out homeowners that got great new stuff when the hurricanes came, and THEY have to pay for it. And they are learning fast, too!
You may not be hearing about it, but I can assure you that the agency force IS. And quite frankly, even if you did, you still wouldn't hear it because you don't WANT to. You don't WANT to be reminded that the days of rates in La La Land are over. You don't have to LIKE it, but it is what it is.
IF we had a Governor that was worth his weight in dung, he would have the cajones to tell you like it is. But we don't. Either he is playing this BS game to get votes, or he really is just that ignorant and can't do the math. My guess is quite a bit of both.
I voted for the dolt and it makes me sick to my stomach every time I think about it.
He is the epitome of why people hate politicians these days.
