I work in rate and statistical filings but I work closely with regulatory compliance; we are a sizable regional carrier so there is a lot of work to comply with the current oversight. I hoped that the NAIC would be able to develop a simple unified approach instead of each state having its own little fiefdom. But I have to admit that my opinion is not necessarily professionally based but rather on my own personal life's experience; as soon as the federal government gets involved in anything, a new cadre of bureaucrats becomes necessary....where do they come from? usually some political appointment, from big business, and of course with a mandate to change things from the top. This, to me, is just the same nonsense that has been going on for as long as I can remember....and being almost 60, I think I have to be convinced with some real "carrot" before I am willing to risk the "stick".
