A shelter built into a mine would cost about the same if it didn't have to be moved more than once a year to stay close to active mining areas. Moving a shelter twice a year would increase the cost about 75 percent, NIOSH said...."

In the United States in 2006, 72 miners lost their lives at work...
$100,000 (unit) + $275,000 over 10 years is $37,500 a year...
How do you put a price on the life of each one of those who perished in the mine? I bet its a heck of a lot more than a years wage...
Dangerous but necessary job - there should be some sort of protective regulations in place for these people. Boohoo Which would they rather hear "Mine company pays for safety shelter - or - Sole survivor sues mine company for millions..."
