Everyone hates trial lawyers until their kid is the one injured by a defective toy or their sister is killed by a drunk driver or their reputation is ruined by reckless allegations or their property values are eroded by a txic dump. Sure there are some outlandish settlements and some questionable suits by trial lawyers but the everyday reasonable settlements and responsible cases don't make the news.
