The problem is that SAFECO among others spend hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars promoting these experiments which usually prove futile. Much more, as a SAFECO agent, I've been pushed to become a "Gold Level Service" agent - in other words, pay to support their servicenter, the very servicenter utilized to service the Costco business, in doing so, you subsidize the competition in their acquisition of YOUR customer!
I found this out when I was promised 5,000 "Bonus Points" from American Express if I placed my business insurance with SAFECO. I called my field rep to get my points because my business insurance was already with SAFECO.
SAFECO is the curbwalker of the insurance business - Costco, AMEX, Insurance Noodle.com, network aggregators and any other cheap Ho they can exploit.
