Subject: Charitable?
"The Starr Foundation, a charitable organization that has donated billions of dollars to various organizations in New York City, holds more than 15 million AIG shares. It was created by AIG's founder, the late Cornelius Vander Starr, as beneficiary of his estate."
allowed to hold shares in stock to make money? this to me seems to be not a correct thing to do. afterall, they lost money because of this. sounds to me like this charitable organization is making a profit or trying to make a profit. it does not matter that you are giving money away to organizations. you have placed the money given in contributions to stocks! a very risky business!
