Subject: Good of the people or Good of the industry
Our industry is made up of Reinsurers and carriers who build their rates on Wind loses including cost of reinsurance and make their money on the investment float on those premiums.
It seems to me that our industry publicly complains about cost of reinsurance and cost of catastrophic loses. But privately needs them for their economic survival. Lets don't pretend that we are looking out for the consumer in this area. We have a self interest and lets not complain anymore about catastrophic loses. We better be able to provide the coverage the consumer needs or the Government will have to.
