Dr Gray was on the faculty of Colorado State University. CSU is home to a large weather research department. He specialized in hurricanes, however, the school researches other phenomenae like lightning strikes. Why?? That area of the Rockies is the second most active place in the world for lightning. The Front Range of the Rockies is also a VERY active spot for hail storms.
