I say take the $700 billion bailout, divide it among tax payers, tax us on the money received and put it back into the general tax funds. Make us accountable for spending this money on outstanding loan payments, credit card debts and/or home purchase down payments. This will pay off much of the outstanding debt for the mortgage companies, allow for purchases on forecloseure homes, take most Americans out of debt and re-stimulate the economy. Then new lending and credit standards need to be developed and implemented for everyone and every lender asap
