you make a good point that there are other choices than Democrats and Republicans, but unfortunately, voting outside of the major parties seems like a wasted vote to me....I'd rather make my vote count by helping the better of the two viable candidates win. Why throw a vote away on a person or party who doesn't have even a slight chance of winning? At least with the Presidential race, we have a significantly better choice in Obama rather than continue down the same tired path that has been followed for the last 8 years with McSame. In less important races, I might be willing to make a "protest" vote for an independent or 3rd party candidate...but this election is too important for that. I'm too uncomfortably reminded of Nader siphoning votes away from Gore, possibly giving the Presidency to 'W', and causing us to find ourselves in a protracted and unnecessary war in Iraq and a crippling deficit.
