The hauling out of these vessels for repair will then too burn more fossil fuels.
Secondly, if fuel prices actually go down for this, more people will be able to buy bigger boats which generate more fuel consumption (when not running under electrical power), eliminating or perhaps exceeding proposed global fuel savings.
Under electrical power, yacht size vessels move very, very slowly, and only for as long as the batteries last. Any vessel moving at faster speed and/or under load will have to burn fossil fuel.
Oh, did I mention that the electrical charge given will be majority sourced from fossil fuels(with a small pittance from other sources)?!
