When an illegal winds up in the ER (eg: crash on the highway), the hospital has to provide emergency care, and the physicians also have to treat them. However, the illegal is NOT eligible for Medicaid. That means the hospital and the doctor (who may have been called to the hospital a 3 in the morning)have to 'eat' the cost. Yeah, it doesn't cost the 'system' much...if the 'system'we're referring to is the insurance companies and the government.
