A federal insurance agency would make it EASIER for the mega-sized insurers to buy influence. Instead of having to woo 50 insurance departments, they could focus their influence on a single entity.

I agree that congress needs to work for consumers. However that has not been the case for years. Only the big pocket donors are supported, regardless of the political party in charge at the time.
