In December 2006 a letter came from Farmers to sign me up for another 6 months with them, that's what I did...I wrote a check to Farmers for almost $700 for the insurance on my car till June 2007. Then all of a sudden, on January 2007, I receive a letter from Farmers saying that my insurance went up because off the accident that happened in May 2006, as my name was not in the insurance. So they wanted another $1, 250 for the six moths period from me till June 2007. I was very mad and I try to contact them as I had my accident in May 2006, and Farmers never informed me that my rates would go up that much. Plus when I paid and sigh the papers in December 2006, no one informed me that my rates would be much higher. When I found everything out I wanted to leave Farmers, but they told me that I couldn't as I sighed a contract with them for another 6 months, and I would have to lose the penalty money. My agent never called me back about the $1,250, and no one could explain why know and why so much money need to be paid. When I call the 1 800 # for Farmers, and spoke to the representative...they where very confuse themselves why no one informed me.

At this point I was so frustrated about the whole thing. I sighed up with AAA insurance in January 2007. AAA wrote a letter to Farmers saying to cancel my account and to forward the money that are left from the time that I paid them in December 2006, $700 to me.

But know I have received a bill from Farmers, saying that I have to pay them $332.83 for unpaid insurance.

My point is that I paid Farmers $700 in December 2006, and then I left them in January 2007. No one ever told me after the accident in May 2006 that my insurance will change dramatically. At this point I strongly belive that Farmers cannot bill me for something that happened 10 months ago. And by looking at the whole think I believe that Farmers still in title to pay me money back for the insurance that I paid them for and did not use it till the end.

I contacted California Department of Insurance Commissioner, they opened a complain case for me. As it is the law that within sixty days, a company must notify me of any error or changes made to my insurance. After sixty days, no notice of change of insurance shall be effective. If the insurance revisions are made and the customer is not notified within sixty days, the policy shall remain in force as written at the original premium.
